Volunteer

Many of the programs offered through Arlington EATS are great opportunities for volunteers of all ages to get involved in addressing food insecurity in our community. There are, however, some roles restricted to volunteers 18 and above due to regulatory bodies. Please see each volunteer opportunity description to determine whether you qualify for that specific role.

Volunteer as an Individual

The Market

There are lots of opportunities for serving at the Arlington EATS Market. Volunteers are needed to unload the delivery truck, sort donations, and help with food distribution. Please note that volunteers needs to be high school age or older to help with deliveries or food distribution. In addition, heavy lifting may be required. Sign up here to help.

Community Meal

Join us for a sit-down meal at Thompson (tablecloths and flowers!) with volunteers serving the food, on the 2nd Thursday of the month. We’ll have fresh produce, eggs, milk and protein. Sign up here to help. (please note: if you don’t see the opportunity on the sign up page, it means all the slots have already been filled. We hope you will still register with the site to find out early about future opportunities!)

Snack Preparation

Arlington EATS makes snacks available for any student who is hungry. Snack preparation is carried out in different settings, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00-2:00 at Thompson. To sign up to pack snacks at Thompson, click here.

Fruit transport and washing

We store and wash fruit within a commercial kitchen setting. As guests in this setting, which serves hundreds of lunches a day and fields deliveries for a number of other sites, it is crucial that we operate under the guidelines set for this environment. Volunteer as a Group

Attend one of our snack packing trainings and find out how you can pack snacks when and where it is convenient for you! For information on upcoming snack packing trainings, sign up for our mailing list.

  • Host a food drive at your school or place of work. These are the items we most frequently need.
  • Host a lemonade stand/car wash/crowdfunding campaign and we’ll find something great for you to sponsor. Email us for promotional help with your fundraiser!
  • Ask for donations in place of gifts for a birthday party. A great way to do this is by creating a fundraiser on Facebook to benefit Arlington EATS.
